The way we use places has changed. How should we care for the future of our public places? How can we manage the competing demands of different modes of travel, land ownership, experience, environment, architecture, heritage and our individual wellbeing in our streets and public places? What is our role as designers, owners and managers of these places? In this debate and discussion we will be considering the care of public places and how good design can help us adapt to change and resolve these conflicts.
Design Directors Peter Heath and Neil Manthorpe from Atkins will be joined by Andrew Love, Senior Advisor to The Ritz Hotel and Chairman of the St. James’s Conservation Trust and Professor Nigel Dunnett from Sheffield University to explore these topics and to open up a discussion around how as designers, owners and managers we can support better design, use and longer term management of our public places.
