Inventive Vents Family Day

26 June 2021

9:15 -11:00

Join the Museum of London Archaeology and Our Hut for a guided foreshore walk at Greenwich.

The tour with one of our experienced foreshore archaeologists will be along the historic Thames Foreshore at Greenwich from the Tudor Palace of Placentia to the industrial river at Greenwich Power station. It is part of the Inventive Vents project led by Our Hut and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund which focuses on London’s below ground workings – transport, services and sewerage and the need for ventilation.

Some artefact handling may be permitted but all finds must be examined by the archaeologist on site. Regular searches on the foreshore for artefacts at other times require a Permit from the Port of London Authority.

The foreshore surface can be uneven and muddy – please wear sturdy footwear, boots or wellies are recommended! In case of inclement weather, the walks may be postponed or cancelled. Suitable for adults, and families with older children/teenagers.
