How do you create a place around a football stadium, whilst ensuring the care and safety of all its visitors?
Kew Bridge Gate is the site of the new Brentford Community Stadium, located in the centre of a mixed-use development by EcoWorld London. A collaboration between AND, Studio Egret West, Jason Bruges Studio and Camille Walala will bring to life innovative place interventions that encourages interaction and play, within the Health and Safety parameters of managing an estate with a major football stadium at its heart.
The proposed concept of a playful urban landscape will incorporate design solutions such as retractable street furniture that can be folded away on match days, mobile exercise parks, interactive new-media installations and public art.
This talk will explore the team’s design process, challenges, as well as the future possibilities for public realm design.
