My Finest Fabulous and Amazing Math Book

29 June 2021

20:00 -22:00

My Finest Fabulous and Amazing Math Book is a video-art installation consisting of two separate videos: a sequence of hand-gesturing following the unique signal numbering system used in auctions, and a shot of a sculptural costume consisting of tape measures.

The event is hybrid: the video will be projected physically on the facade of King William Court at Greenwich, while a digital version will be available online at the LFA website.

The concept: international model turned visual artist Efi Spyrou addresses the political economy of the female body in fashion and of the artwork in auction houses. The experience of the incessant measuring of her own body in the fashion industry reflects the assessment and evaluation processes involved in the art world in a self-reflexive installation. Fashion meets art meets architecture, turning the spotlight to the spaces where art and the body are constantly measured, assessed, evaluated, sold, while simultaneously being preserved, valued, appreciated, protected.

Organised by the Cyprus High Commission in collaboration with the Diversity and Inclusivity by Design (d+iD) project, School of Design, University of Greenwich.
